Privacy policy

Daily Design News is a side project operated by Richard Sison. This policy covers dailydesign.news and the Daily Design News Chrome extension.
We deliberately keep account details minimal. Your email address is the only personal detail we ask for when you create an account. We do not ask for your name or other profile information. An account lets you save items and sync your chosen sources and settings across devices. The sections below explain the saved content, technical records and usage statistics we also process to run and improve the service.
Information we collect
You can read public news and inspiration without an account. If you create an account, we store your email address, account identifier and authentication records to send sign-in codes and keep you signed in.
We store the preferences you choose, including sources, layout, theme and font. When you save an item, we store its URL, title, category, tags, available source and preview information, and the time it was saved.
For signed-in accounts, we record sign-in times, approximate visits, active days and the most recent activity time. Interactions such as a click, keypress or scroll can trigger an activity update, at most once every five minutes. This recorder stores account identifiers, timestamps and counts; it does not record the text you type, individual clicks, scroll positions, visited URLs, IP addresses or device details. Guests are not included in this account activity reporting.
The website also uses Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights for traffic and performance statistics. These can include pages viewed on this site, referrers, approximate location, browser and device information, and loading performance. Vercel describes these services as anonymous and cookie-free. Hosting and authentication providers may separately process request information, including IP addresses, for delivery, security and troubleshooting.
If you contact us, we use the information you provide to respond and resolve your request.
How we use information
We use this information to provide sign-in, sync preferences and saved items, maintain the service, prevent abuse, respond to requests, and understand usage and performance.
A weekly usage report is delivered to Richard Sison’s private inbox through Resend. From 12 October 2026, these reports contain aggregate service totals, such as account, visit and saved-item counts, without account email addresses or individual activity rows. They are for operating and improving Daily Design News. Account information is accessed when needed to handle your request, investigate abuse or comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Cookies and browser storage
Authentication uses cookies to maintain your session. Browser storage remembers preferences and caches appearance settings so the page can load in your chosen theme. A pending save may be stored temporarily in session storage while you sign in.
You can clear cookies and site storage through your browser settings. This can sign you out and reset local preferences; it does not delete your cloud account or saved items.
The Chrome extension
The extension displays Daily Design News in a new tab and provides an account menu. These embedded website views use the same account, storage, providers and data practices described above.
The extension uses Chrome storage to remember whether the Daily Design News new-tab view is enabled. Chrome may sync this setting through your Google account when browser sync is enabled. It also caches appearance information locally.
The extension does not read your browsing history, inspect other websites, capture the current page, or collect what you type in Chrome’s address bar. Access to dailydesign.news supports its embedded dashboard and account menu.
Information obtained through Chrome extension APIs is used only to provide the extension’s stated functionality, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Service providers and external content
We use Supabase for authentication and account storage, Resend for sign-in emails, operator reports and receiving support messages, and Vercel for hosting, analytics and performance monitoring. Support messages and attachments are forwarded to the operator’s private inbox, hosted by Google, so we can respond. Where enabled, Cloudflare Turnstile checks sign-in requests for automated abuse. These providers process information needed to deliver their services and may process it in countries outside your own.
News links, images and other media can come from external publishers. Loading external media or opening a publisher’s link can disclose request information, such as your IP address, to that publisher. Their own privacy policies apply to their services.
Information may also be disclosed where necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect the service and its users.
Retention and your choices
Account information, preferences and saved items are retained while your account exists, unless you remove an item or request deletion. Daily activity summaries older than a year are pruned when that account next records activity. Other sign-in records and activity totals remain until removed by the operator. Report copies created before 12 October 2026 may contain identifiable account information and remain until removed or covered by a deletion request; later reports contain only aggregate totals. Providers may retain logs and backups under their own retention policies.
You can change preferences and delete saved items in the app. To request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information, contact Richard Sison at support@dailydesign.news. Please identify the account email address; we may ask you to verify ownership before acting. Account deletion requests also cover identifiable operator report copies, subject to any required legal retention.
Uninstalling the extension does not delete your Daily Design News account. Clearing browser storage does not remove information held by our service providers.
Changes and contact
We will update this page when our data practices change and revise the date above. For privacy questions or concerns, contact Richard Sison at support@dailydesign.news.
